Welcome Reception

Kick off the Annual Meeting in style at our Welcome Reception at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Enjoy a cocktail reception on the elegant Horseshoe Court and Piazza, a setting steeped in the rich history that defines Newport. This iconic venue showcases the opulence and luxury of one of the area’s most historic properties. Network with fellow attendees as you explore the museum’s exhibits or unwind with a friendly game of cornhole on the historic grass courts. It’s the perfect way to connect, relax, and immerse yourself in Newport’s unique charm.

Traffic Bowl

Join us for the District Collegiate Traffic Bowl, a fast-paced academic competition that puts students’ knowledge of transportation planning, engineering, and ITE history to the test—plus a few fun surprises along the way. Support student teams from across our District as they compete for the chance to advance to the Grand Championship and vie for the prestigious Voigt/Davis Cup. Come cheer them on, test your own knowledge from the audience, and enjoy one of the most energetic and engaging events of the meeting.

Golf Outing (Additional Cost)

Join your colleagues for an 18-hole golf outing at Newport National Golf Club, one of New England’s finest and most scenic courses. This award winning, 200-acre championship layout offers a dramatic coastal setting with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sakonnet Passage. Your registration includes 18 holes of golf, a boxed lunch, and prizes—making it a perfect way to network, relax, and enjoy a memorable day on the course.

Newport Bike Tour (Additional Cost)

Join us for a guided bike ride through scenic Newport, combining visits to several RIDOT and City of Newport project locations with stops at some of the City’s most iconic landmarks. This casual, 7 mile ride fits nicely into a 2 hour window, allowing time for brief discussions, sightseeing, and a quick snack along the way. Experience Newport’s charming streets and coastline, chat about ongoing transportation and pedestrian improvement projects, and enjoy views of historic mansions, the Cliff Walk, and local landmarks—all at a relaxed pace suitable for all riders. This tour offers a fun, informal way to explore Newport’s character while connecting engineering insights to the City’s vibrant urban environment. Bike and helmet rental included. PDH’s will be earned by all participants.

Goat Island.jpg

Goat Island Walking Tour and Workshop (Additional Cost)

The session will begin with a walking tour of the Goat Island causeway approaches and surrounding coastal conditions, highlighting real-time vulnerabilities and mobility constraints. A facilitated discussion will follow that encourages participants to look beyond traditional bridge-centric solutions and reframe the challenge as an “access to destination” problem, considering the full spectrum of factors that shape how people reach and experience Goat Island. By blending history, observation, and collaborative exploration, this workshop invites participants to develop fresh perspectives and imaginative concepts for sustaining safe and reliable access to Goat Island—and for strengthening transportation resilience across Newport’s coastal destinations more broadly. PDH’s will be earned by all participants.
